Literary Arts
Fiction, poetry, photography and art.
Choose the form that fits your work. We review every piece before publication, and no account is needed. You will receive a reference code to follow your submission.
Literary submission guidelines
Written work (fiction, poetry): Upload your piece as a PDF, DOC or DOCX file. There is no text box: we publish from the file you send, so keep the fonts and formatting you want to see. Fiction is capped at 2,000 words; a poem-per-file convention keeps poetry in order, and up to five poems may travel in one submission. Optionally attach a recording of yourself reading your poetry (MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG); approved readings are played beneath the published poem.
Photography: Attach the photograph and write a title and a description of what it shows and its environmental relevance, plus a caption, the creator credit and where the image came from. Every field is required before submission.
Art & Painting: Attach the artwork and give it a title, the medium, a description, and the artist credit.
Environmental theme: Choose one of Earth Notes' environmental themes for the piece; use "Other" and name the theme only when nothing on the list fits.
Our responsibility to you: A coordinator checks completeness, relevance, AI and plagiarism before the piece is edited; the editor gives final approval; the production desk publishes it. You keep the same reference code through every step, and we write to you at every stage, always by email. Original files stay private, and nothing is published without departmental review.
